Today is a special day for me! It has been 5 years since I drank alcohol. It has been 5 years since I woke up in that jail cell. It has been 5 years of battling and trying to navigate life. It has been 5 years since I made a 5-year plan.
In this episode, I want to share with you the five things I have learned in the past five years of being sober. I hope my lessons will help you, whether in your life journey, or the battle to sobriety.
Quotes
  • If I want to accomplish anything, I need to learn to be myself.
  • Emotions are going to come and I have no control over that. But how I respond in what I do with that and how I transmit that is key.
  • Healing doesn’t just happen overnight. Addiction doesn’t just go away but it’s something that I choose to do every single day.
  • We have to change the relationship that we have with our past. That it doesn’t happen to us but for us. In order to be the person that I am now, I had to go through that.
  • We can only love to the depths and capacity that we love ourselves.
